The Elite group was formed in 1950 by the late, Mr. Adam Allie Banderker. His humble and pious mannerism rubbed off on his four sons who carry on the tradition started by their father. Today, if you walk into any of the Elite Stores, the sons are most of the time, easily accessible to customers, family, suppliers and friends.

Elite Supermarket has for years offered their customers the type of service and prices which were so cheap that bulk buyers also found appealing. This gave rise to Elite Wholesalers. The Wholesalers is located in Doreen Road, Rylands Estate. Although, the entire family is active in the running of Elite Supermarket, managing the Wholesale department proved a big task, in itself.

Elite Wholesalers was bursting at the seams due to the advent of spaza shops and partly due to the ever growing bulk buyers increasing their purchases. A building in Athlone Industria was available to accommodate the new Elite Cash n Carry. In September 1996, Elite Cash n Carry opened its doors for trading. Since then the operation has grown from strength to strength. The Cash n Carry is located at the corner of Reen Road and Carrick Avenue in Athlone Industria One.

Elite Meat Market is managed by the eldest Banderker brother with the avid assistance of his spouse and the managerial skills of his eldest son. When required, other members of the family help out, as well. They have been serving the community since the 1960's and have clients from Sea Point to the Strand.
